bluerace/Molotov Cocktails
About bluerace

bluerace has been a band, in one form or another, ever since its two guitarists and principal songwriters met at a jam session in New York back when they were both just kids.

The band has opened up for, and appeared on bills with the likes of Pat Benatar, Eliot Easton (of The Cars), Fleetwood Mac, Steve Howe (of Yes), Orleans, and R.E.O. Speedwagon at venues including what is now the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey, Long Island's Jones Beach Bandshell on the Boardwalk, and My Father's Place. They have released three albums on their own independent label, big radio records - World is Ready (2009), Beautiful Sky (2013), and Mistral (2019) - and are presently at work on their fourth, as-yet-untitled album. All three albums and all album tracks are available wherever music is sold and/or listened to on the Internet - including Apple Music and iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, iHeart Radio, SoundCloud, Spotify, and YouTube.

If you've never heard them, or heard of them, their music is pop-rock based, but arises out of an amalgam of influences and an eclectic approach to songwriting. In fact, they describe themselves, first-and-foremost, as a small factory or laboratory of songwriters. Their songs run the gamut from jangly guitars and Beatles-esque melodies to crunchy guitar-based music that gives lead-guitarist Roger a chance to show off his wares; from ballads to feedback and noise. Their A-list catalog is long enough that they already have the songs for another two albums beyond the one they are presently recording.

bluerace is:
roger diller - lead guitar
thom gencarelli - vocals, guitar & keyboards
vic mercado - drums, percussion & vocals
bruce natalie - bass guitar

The Molotov Cocktails is the brainchild of singer/songwriter John Rullo. When he is not busy writing songs or novels, John performs in a working cover band known as The Cocktails. One evening during a Cocktails rehearsal almost four years ago, band members were discussing how the protest music reminiscent of the sixties is seldom heard, especially in these politically tumultuous times. With tongue in cheek, John suggested the Molotov Cocktails as a name for the band and quickly got to work writing controversial songs. The result was the album Wake Up Call, recorded at Sabella Studios, which includes twelve songs with infectious melodies and inspirational, conscious raising lyrics. This will be the band’s third appearance at the new MFP, to which John penned the theme song. He appeared with his band Johnny Castro and the Convertibles at the original My Father’s Place at least a dozen times and has opened for acts such as Talking Heads, The Ramones, Southside Johnny, Rockpile with Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds, Flo and Eddie, to name a few.

The current members of The Molotov Cocktails are:
John Rullo…Rhythm guitar and lead vocals
Joe Volpe…. Lead guitar and vocals
Rich Albertson…Bass
Al DeSimone…Drums
